Fountain Update
This is an update from the parish council meeting held on 6th July 2026.
It was hoped that there would have been an update in June. However, at this meeting, frustratingly, there was still nothing significant to report.
The parish council is awaiting a Risk Assessment from Waverley’s Senior Environmental Health Officer. Unfortunately, this is being held up by numerous Freedom of Information/Environmental Information Requests to Waverley and the parish council from residents living outside the parish. As these requests have statutory response times, the work to produce the responses is significantly hampering the Officer’s ability to work on the Risk Assessment. The parish council is unable to give an estimate of the time this would take as it is not known how long the FOI/EIR requests will continue.
At the meeting, the parish council resolved to instruct a company to carry out a CCTV survey of the pipes that supply water to the fountain. This will pre-empt one of the issues we know will come up in the Risk Assessment, with the hope of making progress as soon as possible.
As previously reported, as soon as the Risk Assessment has been done and the testing scenarios have been advised, the parish council will carry out a comprehensive consultation with Hascombe Parish residents on the available options and costs to get the water flowing again.
The parish council will update residents as soon as there is progress to report.
